Frank: Miniature Dachshund with Diarrhoea

Dear Pooch and Mutt,

I have never felt moved to write to a supplier of pet products before but I wanted to share with you my recent experiences with my 3 1/2 year old Miniature Dachshund, Frank.

On the 8th March this year Frank became very poorly out of the blue, starting with an episode of acute vomiting and diarreah for which our vet was unable to determine a cause. After having no luck with our previous vet who basically wrote Frank off after the first visit, we moved Frank to another vets who began tests immediately and prescribed antibiotics and vitamin B shots to help him recover, as well as taking him in for 2 days on iv fluids to replace lost nutrients.

Over the next few days Franks sickness subsided but unfortunately, despite the best efforts of the vet, his diarreah failed to clear up. In the months that followed his diarreah continued and we tried everything, ran every test and exauhsted every treatment option available to us to help him get better, but nothing seemed to provide significant improvement.

By early May we had spent almost £3000 on vetinary treatments, and still Frank showed little sign of improvement other than a small improvement when on anti inflammatory tablets.

X-rays had shown a huge and unexplained swelling of his colon which was bleeding and inflamed causing him to frequently pass alarming quantities of blood, however every test we had performed came back negative, frustrating us and the vet.

By this time Frank had gone from a happy bouncy health dog to an animal that looked like a negligence case, his coat was dropping out and he had shaven patches everywhere where various blood tests, needle aspirations, scans had been performed which just wouldnt grow back, his weight was 4.2 kilos (dropping from over 6) and he was listless and seemed like he had lost all interest in life.

It was a heart breaking time for me, Frank had been such a happy dog, we had a constant stream of visistors to see him as he is hugely popular with all our friends and to see him suffering so obviously was awful.

The vet had been gently preparing us for the worst, mentions made of possible cancers for which various tests were run but thankfully came back negative, or life long inflammatory bowl conditions and eventually 2 weeks ago the vet decided that continuing treatment for the diarreah would be pointless as we had exauhsted every option other than invasive and possibly risky exploratory surgery which he wouldn’t reccomend on a dog in such a poor condition, and that he felt the best thing would be to leave Frank on anti inflammatory predisenone and see how he got on. Explaining I would have to accept that this may just be a life long condition and prepare myself to make a decision if the time should come that Franks quality of life became too poor.

Obviously, whilst Frank had been poorly I’d spent hours a day on google researching possible causes and in my internet trawling had come accross your site, but dismissed it, however a couple of the reveiws I read stuck in my head with dogs who had a similar problem to Frank, and so, with the vets blessing I began giving Frank a teaspoon of Bionic Biotic each morning fed with a raw beef diet (up until this point he had been strictly on poached chicken and white fish to aid easy digestion).

I really didn’t hold much hope for a difference, and if I’m honest, I don’t feel our vet did either, furthermore Frank is a monstorously fussy eater, which had been aggravated by our continual hiding of medicines in his food and his obviously painful stomach, smelling out suspicious smells in his food and refusing to touch it if he could, so I thought the first challenge would be to get him to eat the supplement in the first place.

Wrong, he didn’t notice it and ate his food with more enthusiasm than usual, I continued to give him this supplement whilst slowly reducing his dose of anti-inflammatory drugs at the same time and stopping his other medicines as the vet had advised.

The first difference we noticed was his coat, within 2 weeks it was shiny again, he had begun to gain weight and the fur on his shaven patches had grown out a little, then he became more enthusiastic about walks, and got up to greet me when I came home rather than staying in his bed in discomfort.

Finally, today, after only 15 days of being given the supplement during which time we had noticed a steady improvement in his stools, we were able to call the vet and say that his diarreah seems to have completely resolved!

Whilst credit and recognition must be given to the vet for their hard work and care which they have shown Frank during his many visists (as many as three a week at his worse points and with numerous overnight stays) I am amazed at the difference just a couple of weeks of taking Bionic Biotic has made, moreso as I truly expected no difference at all.

I’m so grateful to have my happy barky little dog back, and I will continue to feed him this supplement for the rest of his life. I would reccomend others do the same with their dogs who may be facing a similar problem to me.

Thank you again for a product which has made such a significant difference in Frank’s condition. I can’t put into words how happy myself (and his vet!) are that he is now so improved. I have attached photos so you can see how he looks now, as well as a photo of him when he was unwell, the difference in weight and conditon is clear.

Frank is a beloved pet and a friend to many, so we are all truly grateful for Bionic Biotic!

Best Wishes,

Kirsty
