Pooch & Mutt’s MD Guy Blaskey along with his cockapoo Pepper were in The Times this week for the company’s progress with The Times Ready Business mentoring scheme.
“When Guy Blaskey heard his mother’s dog had been diagnosed with a joint condition, little did he know it would lead to him running his own fast-growing dog food business. Eight years later he finds himself grappling with challenging business decisions.
“My mother’s company made nutritional feed for horses,” he explains. “We decided to give some to Cookie and it worked really well. I realised there was a market there.”
Blaskey, 37, launched Pooch & Mutt in 2008. The health-focused dog food company concentrates on conditions suffered by dogs, from anxiety and bad breath to the mobility problems experienced by his mum’s chocolate labrador. Blaskey’s punt proved to be a clever one.”
